History: About Bruce WaynePersonality: On the surface, Bruce Wayne is a charming individual, full of intelligence and sophisticated conversation. As the son of now deceased Gothamites John and Martha Wayne and the current owner of everything Wayne Enterprises, Bruce Wayne is what you'd call a playboy socialite. As shrewd as he is with people, so he is shrewd with his businesses. He personally oversees pieces of Wayne Enterprises, as seen in his involvement in the company early in Batman vs Superman, as well as his personal involvement in helping people out of a Wayne Enterprises building after the attacks in Metropolis. Some may consider this reckless behavior for such a wealthy businessman, but it earns him the respect of employees across all positions. He treats people just exactly as that: people. He doesn't concern himself with social status, as long as they are decent individuals. Using his intelligence and his money, he does what he can to help people. Though the pensions he sent to the injured individual in Batman vs Superman never reached him, Bruce reached out and did as best as he could... as Bruce Wayne.
Underneath the facade of Bruce Wayne is the darker, more sinister Bruce. Jaded, angry, and tired, Bruce has seen many of the worst sorts of people in Gotham. He is well-aware that Gotham is a far cry from paradise. After the unjust murder of his parents, he took on a mission to enact justice by any means possible to make Gotham a little better. Some may consider Batman to be his true persona, the aspect of him that embodies so much unaddressed rage and fear. Where Superman is considered hopeful, Batman is considered brutal. Bruce's sense of judgment has become clouded over the years. Where he once stood to save even the most cruel of villains in Gotham, now he has little remorse in enacting far more lethal means of justice. Though we never explicitly see Bruce killing a person, his branding of individuals guarantees a permanent end, as seen in the extended edition.
Despite his general angry attitude, Bruce is still willing to defend and bring a sense of justice to the world. Perhaps it's this outrage that fuels him to change what he can. This rage does ultimately blind him, which is the exact entirety of Batman vs Superman. His anger towards Clark Kent and the Kryptonians' apparent apathy towards everyone around him caused him to want to put down Superman. He couldn't stand for anyone threatening the lives of millions of innocents, and while he knew this would cause irreversible damage, he took it upon himself to destroy one danger in order to avoid a far greater danger.
Bruce is stubborn, admittedly, but this doesn't make him opposed to or unable to change. What started out as unbiased anger became deep respect and even regret in his judgment of Clark Kent. Through this and The Flash's sudden visit, Bruce and Diana Prince now begin to look for other metahumans in order to defend the world from threats like Lex Luthor and Doomsday. His stubbornness and anger, though, are one of his key weaknesses. These are easily exploited by Lex. Lex would've been successful in destroying the two best-known superheroes had Wonder Woman not intervened and had they not realized they were both being played.
During his brief cameos in Suicide Squad, we already see a slightly more reformed Bruce Wayne. He could have very easily killed Harley Quinn, but instead knocked her out and sent her to jail (not to say that this is an acceptable solution, just a far more acceptable alternative). He also tries to reason with Deadshot as opposed to openly threatening him, especially because of Deadshot's daughter's presence. It must be noted that as an orphan, Bruce Wayne has a particular empathy and need to protect children. We see this most clearly in the extended edition of Batman vs Superman, where he helps children away from buildings, carries them away to safety, and offers comfort. No, Bruce is not completely cold, but he does become nothing less than steel when he's on duty.
In all of this, Bruce manages to hide all of these issues with impressive ease. He plays up different stereotypes and expectations of himself, depending on the situation. One minute we might see Bruce flirting with a young, beautiful thing, the next minute we might see him pretending to be drunk to get closer to an objective. Though Bruce keeps his personal, business, and vigilante lives as separate as possible, it would be inaccurate to say that they never mix. He is smart enough to know when to be a civilian and when to be a vigilante. His ability to juggle his personas through manipulation and diversion makes Bruce one of the more unpredictable sorts of heroes. He keeps his secret well-hidden, ensuring that only a select few are aware of his true identity. He knows he has to keep up appearances as both Bruce Wayne the billionaire and The Bat of Gotham.
In short? Never underestimate Bruce Wayne, and certainly beware the Batman.
